Minor Arcana/ The Wands
The fire of creation. The match to the flame. The wands represents the fire in the belly. It’s the fuel that helps us push through our projects and ideas. It’s best to be careful that the fire doesn’t burn through everything. Out of control it will rage or worse turn inward leaving nothing but ash once it burns out.
Ace
Upright: The creative spark. The flash of inspiration that fires up the soul. Accepting a challenge
Reversed: Delayed or disappointing starts. Lack of energy for the project. Bored and/or wasted talents
Two
Upright; Discovery, choices and expansion. Coming into your personal power. Anticipation and choosing to stay or go
Reversed: Lack of planning. Indecision and feeling stuck. Fear of change and the unknown
Three
Upright: Spreading your wings, expansion, travel things coming together. Freedom and self-beliefs
Reversed: Lack of foresight. Disappointed with choices. Self-doubt. Feeling like your wings are clipped.
Four
Upright: Completion. Things coming together. Community, family and teamwork. Laying down roots.
Reversed: Lack of community. Family/community conflict. Insecurity and neglect.
Five
Upright: Conflict and struggle. Strife, disagreements. Clashing egos. A lack of control
Reversed: Compromise. The end of a conflict. Finding common ground. Battle fatigue
Six
Upright: Victory, achievement. Stability, strength and riding high. Triumph after strife
Reversed: Failure. A lack of achievement. and support. Broken promises an unsuccessful project.
Seven
Upright: Standing up for beliefs. Valour and perseverance. Forceful and determined.
Reversed: Admitting defeat, quitting and/or giving up. A lack of courage.
Eight
Upright: Things moving quickly. Action and progress. Jumping in with both feet.
Reversed: Delays and frustration. Things slowing down. Losing momentum.
Nine
Upright: Strength and resilience. Almost at the end of the project. Learning from past failure.
Reversed: Repeating the same errors. Giving up near the end. Lack of strength. No fight left
Ten
Upright: Overburdened. The struggle and load is too much. Oppression and challenges to get to the finish line.
Reversed: Letting go. Learning to say no. Working hard but not seeing progress.
King of Wands
Upright: Leader and entrepreneur. Taking the lead and action in a situation. .Action oriented
Reversed: Impulsive. Not being pro-active. Too timid to take action. Lack of leadership.
Queen of Wands
Upright: Courage and independent. Willing to take risks. Outgoing, confident and assertive.
Reversed: Temperamental, demanding and abusive. A lack of courage and self esteem
Prince of Wands
Upright: Explorer and free thinking. Looking outside the standards for answers. Inspired and adventurous.
Reversed: Scattered energy. Rigid in thought and belief. Not willing to consider new concepts.
Princess of Wands
Upright: Free spirited. Visions and coming into ones own. Finding your passion.
Reversed: Hasty, naive. Needing maturity in action. Close minded and predictable.
